High-end generalToday we are looking at a bronzed statue from a museum in Nassau County. The various colors are a result of emphasizing the shadows and highlights in the picture. It is like a modern day version of pointillism, which involved painting in dots, though not necessarily with the aim of breaking up color. Look closely and you will see parts of the picture seem to be floating above the page.
When you get close the image you become aware of the sub-patterns within the image. When you move back the sub-patterns are part of the whole. In pointillism the sub-patterns were all dots.
With this image, technology was a dominant factor in its creation. In other words this image would not have been possible without it. I like to think of this as "high-end" Techno-impressionism.
