Lest you think that Tony Karp's work is only avant garde, here for your viewing pleasure is the Solitary Bee.
The bee is actually backing away from the flowers on a sage bush in the garden at the back of our house. We plant as many bushes and flowers as we can, in hopes they will attract butterflies and humming birds and the like. We were delighted to discover that the bees love some of them as well. Now don't be afraid. If you just leave the bees along they will leave you alone.
This one bush attracted lots and lots of bees from sunrise to sunset. Tony became interested in them, perhaps because there were so many. The bees more pretty fast as they dart from flower to flower. Finally he got a moment that he liked. He shot at different times of time of day, from different angles, with different lighting conditions. All these variations brought by nature. He had hundreds of images to work from. Then he worked his magic, throwing away the bad ones, finally choosing the one that he had in his mind's eye. Then there was the cropping, making the background less intrusive and all the things that make his art so interesting. A magnificent print hangs in the living room gallery.
You'll see more Techno-Impressionist Bees here I spent the last two years as a field organizer and I learned how powerful it is to tell your story. And so I will continue to tell the story of the images that I post. Enjoy!
