This is one of first pieces of
Techno-Impressionism that Tony Karp created. It was in his first show in Paris.
Those are fireman putting out a fire. Back in the 90s it was not easy to get all those grays or to have such a smooth transition between them. The inks were not very good either. Tony made a print and the next day when we looked it; it was green. The largest size print possible was 11x17. We've come a long way baby.
This piece is one of the foundations of Tony Karp's work. It showed him the possibilities. It intrigued him, it took him forward.
I was prompted to talk about this image because it caught my eye yesterday as I was stretching in the living room gallery. It has amazing depth. When seen from a distance it makes you wonder what is it. You just have to go and look at it up close.
Marketing Tony's art is a great adventure. Since we moved to Virginia, Tony has had 10 one man shows and been reviewed by four papers. Who knows what the future will hold.
