So here we are on that day when everyone makes a fuss over their mother. It's a wonderful thing to do, but just remember you guys, even if you pay attention to us today it doesn't mean you can ignore us the rest of the year.
I send a special Happy Mother's Day to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, First Lady Michele Obama, my beautiful, elegant, loving daughter by marriage Cathy, my incredible gorgeous, dancing niece Jessica, to my lovely sister-in-law Diane, to Mina my dearest friend with whom I have shared motherhood and now grandmother hood with for almost 40 years, and to a future mother my most fabulous granddaughter Carina who I love more than anything in the world. Best wishes for a wonderful day to all my friends.
I've been given a most wondrous gift this Mother's Day. It came in the form of two young people, Karima and Eric. Thank you both for helping me see more clearly how I can make a difference by creating an Organizing for America team here in Haymarket. It's a challenge I admit but no worse that completing the implementation of an order processing messaging switch for a major brokerage that they'd been trying to build for 10 years.
Being able to build a team to connect the dots (people) so we'll be able to make a difference is much better than bemoaning what is happening here in America as I have done in other posts. Now I can say to my future great grandchildren that in 2011 there are people who care, people who come to together, people who have found a simple way to make a difference.
I'm focusing my energy on building of team of people here in Haymarket who will join with me in connecting with other people. Together we'll learn how to communicate about the issues and what the President has done. We'll organize events to help build our network and get as many people involved as we can.
For me, Organizing For America is a way that I can make a difference and that's a wonderful gift that costs nothing. Carina my darling granddaughter I do this for you to ensure that your future will be bright and that you will grow up and live in an America that continues to have the same values that I grew up with.
