In a world full of color sometimes it is a relief look at a black and white image, to let your eyes gaze at something that looks like it is made of something solid or perhaps it's a shiny cloth. It is calming to look at this image. It is a welcomed relief from a world that is moving faster and faster and one where we are bombarded with so many problems and so much negativity.
Stop, take a deep breath. Let your eyes roam all over the flower. The picture projects a kind of serenity, a delicate beauty. I want reach out and touch this flower. Is it made of silver, perhaps it's satin? Art should engage you, uplift you, take you to another place if only for a few moments. Tony Karp, you have certainly done that with this piece.
On a personal note I want to tell the people in Iran who are so brave, so courageous that I and many people here in America are with you. To the brave, brave women of Iran I say Thank You. You are showing the world what women are really made of. Your bravery is magnificent. I salute you, I applaud you, I admire you. You are not alone.
