There is a great article about the new director of the Metropolitan Museum of New York. He sounds wonderful. One of the few reasons we might make a trip to New York would be to spend time wandering around the Met. It's a fabulous place that provided us with many, many hours of joy and discovery.
This is an image from a beautiful chest in the Oriental section of the museum. It is a world unto itself. The figures are carved into this beautiful chest. These wise and ancient figures spoke to Tony as he worked on this picture. They said "our wisdom is from long ago but still valid in this modern age. Make us more visible so that it will be easier for people to hear our message."
For me the sage advice is about caring about what happens to other people. In the raging debate about health care I am reminded of the 50 million people in this country who have none. That's outrageous. Are we a third world nation?
I can understand that somewhere between doing nothing and the perfect solution to our health care problem there is room for much negotiation. There is, however, no room for lies and distortions and a total disregard for each other. Has our greed become so great that we've lost our humanity? I sometimes wonder.
Use your common sense. Come to your own conclusions about all this. DO NOT DOWNLOAD your opinion. Want to think for yourself again? TURN OFF THE TELEVISION SET. It is turning your brain to mush.
