This is the sixth installment in a series of posts I am writing for my yet unborn great grandchildren.
If I was writing science fiction or a fairy tale I would say the dark side or the forces of evil are using all of their power in an effort to gain control. They have no boundaries, they will do whatever it takes to gain control. It is very hard to do battle with them. There's a risk of becoming like them in order to win. One has to guard against operating without boundaries. And so my dearest great grandchildren this is the world we are living in. It's the year 2010.
Your great grandfather Tony continues to create incredible, interesting art. It's art enabled by technology. He's following the natural progression of things. Technology is part of everyone's lives and so Great Grandpa Tony spends his time exploring the endless possibilities that technology facilitates in the creation of his art. He's an explorer traveling on the wings of programs, some that other people built and some that he writes himself.
For him there are two important things, creating as much art as possible and having as many people as possible see his art. There is no better way to do that than the internet. And so he and I both use the web to display his art. He's built an on-line museum called
Techno-Impressionist Museum and we both blog. He writes about
Art and the Zen on Design and I write about his work as the
Artist's Muse.
He is always exploring new ways of displaying his art. He's discovered he can build an interactive book. His books are not only filled with interesting pictures but they also allow the reader to view them in an interesting way. An art book viewed on a screen provides a very different experience from a hard copy book.
For some people Tony's work is a bit abstract, but most people are very curious about how he creates his images. They are often amazed to learn that they usually start out as a photograph.
Recently, Great Grandpa Tony has been discovered by an after school program (SACC) in a county called Fairfax here in Northern Virginia where we live. He's showing his art to the teachers and the children. He's encouraging them to create and display art and to let technology help them do it..
These children will carry his art and the art movement called
Techno-Impressionism he started into the future. Perhaps you will like his art and decide to work at making your Great Grandfather Tony Karp famous.
