This is an image made back in the early 60's when Tony was in the army. This is his friend sitting across from him in the tea house. Tony was a soldier who spent time sitting on the DMZ but this was not a time of war in Korea.
The composition of a piece of art by Tony Karp is always interesting. It has a way of drawing your eyes into the picture, of making you want to visually wander over the image, to stop, perhaps pull back and then look again. There is something almost magical about this image. It is sharp and not sharp, and yet you can't help but focus on the face of his friend and wonder what he is thinking about.
Musings of a muse
Now that I have given my art spiel let me say what is really on my mind. Things are just totally nuts.
Why am I being asked to pay for an ad to try and get the people who are supposed to represent me to do what is good for me, the country, the world and the future.
Why am I being asked to call my congressman who represents me to tell him to do what is good for me, the country, the world and the future.
Why is the course of this country being decided by a bunch of Democrats following a bunch of ridiculous rules and preventing peoples' votes from being counted. I thought that is what the Republicans did. Or maybe there really is no difference between the two.
Why do I feel like the people of this country are only good for paying taxes, and then spending all their money on gas, food and health insurance.
Why are we watching advertising that tells us to take all those drugs which can have side effects like killing you or making you sicker that your original disease.
I can only hope I am branded as one of those left wing bloggers. I will wear that like a badge of honor.
We are heading off the cliff guys - doesn't anybody care. I guess not because those in power live for the moment. They have lost of sense of reality.
And so I will try to find peace in the art.
