Musings of a muse
Yes it's a portrait of me.
It was a beautiful sunrise this morning and the tree outside my window was full of birds waiting for their turn at the feeders. Even though it's cold the little birds still sing, just not as loud as in the spring and summer.
We don't celebrate this particular holiday and even if we did we have no family to celebrate with. I've always found it a bit depressing and I'll be glad to see it end.
Watching the sunrise and watching and listening to the birds always lifts my spirits and helps me think. We're living in a time of great change. The future is uncertain. My hope is that we the people can make the change happen, can guide our future and not just be the victims. It's a tall order but we are Americans and we can do it. We've got to get back in touch with the spirit that made this country great. More on this in a future post.
Today's topic is citizen generated art appreciation. It's how can we guide the future of art. Stop letting other people tell us what is good and what is bad art. If you listening to the critics do it with a grain of salt. Art is not great because a museum or a collector paid millions for it. That's art based on big business. How about art based on what
you like, what's food for thought, what touches you. We have citizen journalism how about citizen generated art appreciation.
This citizen thinks that Tony Karp's work in fabulous. Yes I love the artist who created it and I'm surrounded by it. But I also know what I like and don't like. I've studied and absorbed it this art. It's really great stuff. It has a big wow factor. People look at it and say wow. But after that initial impact people start to really look and talk about it. Put it on your walls, it will be a conversation piece.
