Sometimes I think just keep quiet, nobody cares, nobody is listening. But that way lies no freedom. This country was founded on the idea that one could speak one's mind and not be afraid. Well that is almost gone now so before it goes let me speak out.
I read the other day that a whole generation of college professors is about to retire and they are being replaced by a new generation that is very middle of the road. These new educators do not speak out much or maybe not at all.
Younger generations are busy getting ahead, pursuing their goals etc. I was like that once. Some people won't even discuss the issues of the day. They just don't want to hear it.
Young parents are into organic food, no plastic, no chemicals, eating right, and being very clean. They work very hard at limiting their children's exposure to bad stuff.
But are they worried that these very children are going to live in a country with little or no personal freedom. A country where these very same children will have to pay enormous taxes to pay for a war so we could get oil and make the oil companies and Halliburton rich. And don’t' forget that war is good for business. Good for the defense contractors.
Do they ever think about how this has become a country that has no rules and regulations and so people are fed rotten food and given drugs where the cure is much worse than the disease. My fear is that they don't.
And so next week congress will flush the 4th amendment down the tubes. They can spy on us whenever they like and they will never be punished for this abuse of our freedoms.
My perspective is that we are all moving along as though we really still had a government and that the way to change things was to vote the bad guys out of office and vote the good guys in. But that isn't the reality any more. Money talks, money makes things happen.
People make excuses for the Democrats saying they don't have a true majority. But where are the voices of the people we elected Why don't they speak out, why don't they show leadership. Too busy counting the money from the lobbyists no doubt.
Why aren't we out in the streets? Oh, I forgot we are too busy.
