Tony Karp was standing in the middle of Third Avenue in New York City when he created this image. For those of you who know New York architecture, that's the Lipstick Building which is Philip Johnson's second postmodern contribution to the Manhattan skyline. It was built in 1985.
Tony creates his art from what is in front of his eyes. When we lived in the big city it was buildings and faces made from statues and things from the museums. Now it's the sunrise, sunset, trees, flowers, birds, leaves and yes occasionally me. Almost anything that catches his eye becomes the subject.
And I have some personal news to report. I've been promoted to Senior, Executive Vice President for the
Techno-Impressionist Museum. I was officially anointed by Tony using his favorite backscratcher as his sword. It was all very dramatic. The pay's not great but it's what you do when you love the artist.
