My artist Tony Karp is very taken by the work of Lyonel Feininger who is sometimes described as a cubist/expressionist painter.
One day he took yet another picture of the horse over his head. (It's a weather vane over his studio) and began a journey with Feininger on his mind. He began to work on creating shapes within the image. Here's the result. Quite interesting to look at.
I suspect that the Ode to Feininger series will continue to grown. Tony is probably mulling it around even as I write. And when he proof reads this post it will probably getting him thinking some more. And so you see this is one way a muse influences her artist.
Musings of a muse
I just finished doing this big community service project that focused on Earth Day and hopefully raised everyone's environmental awareness.
I did it because I feel very strongly about the environment. Ensuring there is a place where the human race can live has to be our number one priority. Without it nothing else really matters.
I spoke with several of the parents that brought their young children to the event. They all said the same thing. The very little ones all understand what has to be done to protect the environment. They are leading us dumb grownups.
It is getting scary out there, but I feel hopeful because things are changing and changing fast. Change also brings opportunity. There is much change in the art world. And with that change perhaps Tony Karp will get the recognition he so deserves. He continues to push the envelop. Peggy Guggenheim where are you?
