About this image
That's Tony standing in the field behind the
Techno-Impressionist Museum in Haymarket, Virginia. The subject of the image is his shadow. He has his jacket tied around his waist and it makes it look like he is wearing a long coat. And no, that is not a religious object in the background, it is the shadow cast by the fence.
That's literally what you see but what the muse sees is Tony standing at the crossroads looking into the future. He presents his view of the world through his art. Think of his art like viewer that Tony has named
Techno-Impressionism. He named it Techno-Impressionism after the real Impressionists. If they were alive today they would be using today's available technology and it might very well be called Techno-Impressionism. It does not really matter this is just a way of helping you understand Techno-Impressionism by making an analogy to the art world you may be familiar with.
Musings of a muse
So what you ask does all of this have to do with the future of the
Techno-Impressionist Museum.. Right now it is only a virtual museum. This means the only way to visit it is to go-line. It is a very interesting place on the web. It contains:
- Catalogs of Exhibitions of Tony Karp's work that has been displayed around the world
- Collections Tony built these virtual collections specifically to be viewed in the on-line museum. When you look through these collections you will see many different techniques that Tony has developed for viewing art via an on-line museum.
- Our Blogs where you can read what the artist and his muse are talking about
- Museum Library contains historical writings (all by Tony Karp) that talk about the Techno-Impressionist Art movement and its beginning, and quotes from the first virtual artists who poked fun at techno-impressionism. (Pablo PigCasso, Henri-Toulouse LaTech and Vincent Van Gui knew that there is sometimes truth in jest)
- Biography and Reviews read about Tony Karp and what critics have said about his work.
- Rest Rooms Tony felt no museum is complete without a set of these
And now we have decided to give the
Techno-Impressionist Museum a real world presence. We will be turning the gallery we have created in Tony's studio into a museum. A place in this mad world where people can come and see some interesting art, chat with the artist and leave it all behind them if only for a short while.
