Tony and I have been together for almost 42 years. It has been an incredible journey for me, one that's been filled with interesting voyages.
I took a short trip to San Diego a few weeks ago and Tony said "I'm going to make some bubble pictures". This has evolved into his work having a new dimension that he calls Spherism and an exciting new way of navigating an on-line museum exhibit.
Visit our Techno-Impressionist MuseumTony says "While other photographers have placed a bubble in their pictures, I have placed the world into my bubbles."
The exhibit is here.
Bubble pictures (Spherism) can be created by a number of different methods. One way is by using a camera lens that gives a fisheye vision of the world. He still uses fisheye-style lenses from time to time on his current digital cameras.
The other way to create bubble pictures is by "spherizing" them on the computer. Right now, he's experimenting and producing either circular images or elliptical ones.
The new navigation is the hidden feature on the main page of the exhibit. There are actually over forty bubble pictures, but only 12 are shown at a time. To see another set, just reload the page. You'll get a random show every time you reload.
Imagine the Met using a display mechanism like this to show some of their vast collections. Tony is leading the way.
How will we see art when we're either traveling to Mars or living there? The future is closer than you think.
