This little wren is sitting on the fence right next to the porch. He or she (we don't know how to tell the difference) has a nest in one of our propane tanks. They have come back for the last three years in a row. They were busy building it earlier in the spring.
One sits on the fence while the other one goes into the nest. You can't miss them because even though they are very small they make a sound like a great opera singer. It echoes across the field.
We haven't heard or seen them for several weeks now. Since Tony showed me this picture today I thought I would write about them.
Don’t know how often they go on-line or even if they read this blog. Just thought I would send the sweet little wrens a message and ask them to come back.
They work incredibly hard making the nest and then feeding their babies. And then one day the babies appear on the fence and then they are all gone.
They are very devoted to each other. Once one of them accidentally flew into the garage and even though we had all the doors and windows open she could not seem to fly out. The other half of the pair flew back and forth by the doors singing and singing. He was back again at dawn and I open the doors and this time she was able to fly out. It is amazing watch these two little birds.
Tony and had a laugh when we were talking about this image. We decided to call it "Don't talk with your mouth full."
It is Tony's birthday at the end of this week. I love you my darling and I wish you a most wondrous birthday. For those of you who are reading this blog for the first time Tony Karp is the artist and I am his muse.
Forever your hob
