It's not about art today. I will just say that this image is what I might have looked like if I'd been Picasso's muse. But happily I belong to Tony Karp a sweet, wonderful guy.
Here's really what's on my mind. Where're having this raging discussion on health care. The insurance companies have cranked up their message machines using their very deep pockets and are pounding away. I'm reminded of the terror alert business of the past few years. It was nonsense. The alerts had only one purpose to scare you so you would agree to whatever they did to take away your liberties.
Now we have the health care terror and all those messages about how you won't be able to go to a doctor and on and on. They want to scare you into believing doing nothing is okay. Several friends who are more level headed than me said at a minimum we should wait and see what the result of all the negotiations.
The insurance companies got the delay they wanted and now some in congress are home working on spreading the message that we should not do anything to fix our health care system.
But beyond the actual issue of health care lies a more fundamental question about our form of government. I'm being asked to donate money for a campaign to counter the health care scare tactics. What does this all say. It says money rules, not what we as citizens want or need. I'm disgusted. This is not what the founding fathers had in mind.
I have a question. What happened to all those Americans that were so giving during the Tsunami that people all over the world remarked how generous we were? Have we really become the hooligans who threaten people and don't allow them to talk about their views on health care? I think not. I think we are still a very caring people and that we care and want to help each other. We should be careful that we don't let other people define us. Don't let other people scare us with lies. It's health care terror full time all the time.
