This is a haunting image. Sometimes Tony's art is very analytical and sometimes it is filled with emotion. This is just Tony and his graphics tablet and pen and some virtual brushes.
I am in tears today for my friend Tove. I am going to see her this weekend. Probably for the last time. For me this is a portrait of her.
About Tove We used to meet at Jones beach and sit and talk as our children played in the sand and splashed in the ocean. I remember her daughter was always running down the street and we would be calling wait, wait, don't cross the street without us.
Tove came to visit me the night I went into labor. She and her family were the first people to visit us when Scott was a new born. We danced at Maren's wedding and they danced at Scott's. When you have a friend for a very long time you get to have so many lovely memories.
Tove has a master's degree, was a member of Mensa, a librarian at the 42nd Street Library in New York. She used to make jewelry, and she loves Danish art. In the past few years she took up photography and had a few shows and sold some stuff.
And so we are going to sit together and hold hands and cry in between the laughing. I am grateful that I can be there for her. I know she would like people to make a small donation to the American Cancer Society so that the next person who has a cancer like hers (they don't know where it first started and that makes it very hard to treat) might have a better chance.
It is at a time like this that you wish you had some very powerful magic and could make it all better for your dear friend.
