About this image
Many artists create images from the things they see before their eyes. Tony Karp falls into that category. What sets him apart from other artist's is his ability to make interesting art out of nothing.
This is a self portrait of Tony Karp. Instead of a mirror he used his shadow. He is holding the camera in one hand. One of the reasons he only buys light cameras is it gives him the ability to hold the camera in one had and use his other hand to help make the image better. In this instance he raised his other hand to make a more interesting shape. How he got the image to look this way is part of the magic of
Techno-Impressionism. The final image looks like a peek into the night sky
Musing of a muse
It has been crazy around here lately. We’ve had lots of traffic in the studio/gallery. The other morning I was out pulling weeds (a relaxing, mindless, never ending task that I enjoy doing) and some people came walking by. We have a sign outside the house that says art gallery and they asked if it really was a gallery.
They came inside and Tony gave them a tour. It turns out the guy is an artist and has just finished a studio in his home on the next road over. They liked the art. We encouraged the artist to get his portfolio together and come and show it to us.
It is just another example how
Art Comes to Haymarket. It is going to take a while to make the gallery more visible to people here in DC area but you just watch me.
For those of you who are too far away to come to the gallery, we've created an on-line exhibit. Here are some of the rooms in the current exhibit of
Techno-Impressionist Art in Tony Karp's studio/gallery located in Haymarket, Virginia. You can't separate the art movement called
Techno-Impressionism and the artist
Tony Karp. They are one and the same.
