When I decided to post this image I chose it because it's very interesting. It's Tony taking a picture of a self portrait of Giacometti and what you see is his reflection in the glass in front of it. Complex picture but as with all Tony's work, it's what was before his eyes.
It's interesting to note that today Giacometti is in the news because his is no longer the most expensive work, he's been replaced by Picasso.
Tony creates his art for himself and he is thrilled to display it so that it's seen all over the world. While fame would be great it's not his main motivation.
We often talk about Techno-Impressionism which is Tony's way of working, or you can say it's his style. He's working on an electronic book of his art and words. It's easy for him because he really knows how to use technology and how to make it do what he wants. He doesn't have to hire anyone to do it for him. He makes every print himself. He wants total control over that part of the process. On the other hand he loves to get immersed in working with a piece of software, seeing where it can lead his work. An interesting combination of total control and total freedom to explore.
What Tony is doing is the future of art. It may be a while before there are other Techno-Impressionist, artists that explore the endless possibilities that come from that seamless integration of art and technology. It's fascinating to watch. It's incredible to be his muse.
